Mission Statement

Since 1915, the Mental Health Association of Maryland (MHAMD) has been a leader in progressive programs resulting in improved outcomes and recovery, increased research, and greater public understanding and awareness of the needs of children and adults with mental illnesses.

We envision a just, humane and healthy society in which all people are accorded respect, dignity and the opportunity to achieve their full potential free from stigma and prejudice.

"How unobtrusively
history writes itself. The crucial moments are not the loud triumphs or
the catastrophes, but moments like these,
quiet and undramatic, when a light is struck in
the minds of men and a purpose is set on its way."

Clifford Beers
Founder, National Mental Health Association, 1909
