The COVID-19 crisis has left many unemployed and presents concerns for businesses. Here are resources to help both individuals and businesses get through this trying time.
Unemployment
- The Maryland Department of Labor has prepared these unemployment FAQs.
- All licenses, permits, registrations, and other authorizations issued by the state, its agencies or any political subdivision that would expire during the current state of emergency will be extended until at least the 30th day after the state of emergency is lifted.

Insurance
- Visit the Maryland Insurance Administration’s FAQ page addressing insurance-related questions about COVID-19.
- As part of the state’s overall response to the coronavirus, and in an effort to prioritize health and safety, Maryland Health Connection has opened a new special enrollment period for uninsured Marylanders. Go here for more information.
Businesses
- Governor Hogan announced that the entire state of Maryland has received an official designation for SBA assistance. Small businesses can apply here.

- If a business experiences a temporary or permanent layoff, Labor’s Division of Unemployment Insurance’s Bulk Claim Services can open unemployment insurance claims for all affected employees. To determine if a business is eligible, please visit the Bulk Claims Services FAQs page.

- Baltimore Together – The Mayor’s Office recently announced the COVID-19 Small Business Assistance Initiative, which establishes the COVID-19 Small Business Task Force, a public-private partnership, and a $5.5 million fund to provide financial assistance to small businesses. $15,000 grants are available now.
