Resiliency Road Trip: Lower Shore

The “Resiliency Road Trip” series, led by Frank Kros, aims to empower adults to guide and nurture children by equipping them with practical and powerful skills to shape resilient minds. On September 18th, our fourth of six stops on our “Resiliency Road Trip” will bring us to the Lower Shore at the James M. Bennett High School to host two free sessions:

  • Session 1: Poverty Simulation from 2:30-5:00PM
Research suggests that people think differently and make different decisions under the often-overwhelming stress of poverty. Join us for an immersive Poverty Simulation session that highlights how socioeconomic status affects thinking, feeling, and behavior. This experience focuses on the cognitive and emotional aspects of poverty, as participants engage with others to meet needs, form communities, and manage stress. Gain greater insight into the cognitive and emotional aspects of poverty and how those aspects impact behavior.
  • Session 2: Anxious & Depressed – Effective Support Strategies Every Helping Adult Can Provide from 6:00-8:00PM
Recent mental health data reflects a significant rise in anxiety and depression among children and youth. This workshop offers valuable insights into these issues, equipping you with practical, effective, and safe strategies to support the children and adolescents in your life. There are numerous ways adults can support children without needing to diagnose or treat them. These “no harm” strategies are practical, efficient, and effective tools to add to your mentorship toolbox, enhancing your confidence in helping kids navigate the challenges of anxiety and depression.

Join us for one or both of these session on the Lower Shore to enhance your ability to support and nurture the resilience and well-being of the children in your care. Please consider attending some of the other sessions in another region by visiting our event page here! Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
