About the Speaker: Carolina Carbajal, LCPC, PMH-C, brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to her work in perinatal mental health. As a licensed counselor across DC, MD, and VA, her approach to pregnancy loss support is informed by her own lived experience, which catalyzed her dedication to this field. Carolina currently serves as the Director of Curriculum Development and Training at the Mental Health Association of Maryland while pursuing her doctorate at Oregon State University, where her research focuses on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Her professional experience includes participation in the Healthy Brain Child Development Study at Johns Hopkins University, working with pregnant women and infants. As a board member with Postpartum Support International (PSI) and alliance representative for PSI’s Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color, Carolina is dedicated to advocacy, raising awareness, and expanding access to perinatal mental health support, particularly for underserved communities. Through her private practice and her role at The Womb Room in Baltimore, MD, Carolina is committed to creating spaces where every family’s grief journey is honored with cultural sensitivity and compassionate care.
